sooner or later we all have to pay

Inspired by a recent podcast with American strength and conditioning coach Mike Boyle, who advanced our understanding of functional training, I’ve been considering the choices that our patients and clients make.  Coach Boyle suggested that we should be making health decisions earlier rather than later.  That it’s better to invest our time, and in most cases some money, on looking after our health sooner, before we need more complicated and possibly invasive interventions.  It made me wonder about dentists… why do we go and see our dentist every 6 months for a check-up, yet don’t see our physiotherapist until something has already gone wrong, with our very complex neuromusculoskeletal system?  I believe that this is about education and understanding that if we want to move, and move well, we need a check-up and maybe a few corrections.  An increasing number of our patients and clients understand this.  Back to a quote from Coach Boyle – “if you were 18 and got a new car, and you were told this is the only car you will have for the rest of your life, don’t you think you would look after that car?”  Get in touch for your MOT!
