men’s health

men’s health

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is one of the most common men’s health problems in the UK and globally. Statistics show that well over half of men state that they experience this condition (58.2%). A quarter experience it during more than half of all their sexual encounters (27.3%). Peyronie’s disease is a lesser-known condition more commonly known as bent penis.

discretion

When you register with our practice, which can be done over the telephone or online, you will not be asked what your condition is or why you need to see us. This is not discussed until you are in clinic at your physical assessment. You will be treated with compassion and will have the opportunity to talk about how your problems may have also affected your mental health and relationships. In addition, because we treat a wide range of problems, you will not need to endure feelings of embarrassment or anxiety in our waiting room. No one else will know why you are there.

about this service

conditions treated include:

Erectile dysfunction:
Most men occasionally fail to get or keep an erection. This is usually caused by
stress, tiredness, anxiety or drinking too much alcohol, and is nothing to worry about.

If it happens more often, it may be caused by physical health or emotional problems.

Peyronies disease:
Peyronies disease is when you have a curved or bent penis. It is caused by scar
tissue forming along the shaft of the penis. This causes painful erections and a bend
or curve, usually about halfway along the penis. The change in shape is usually only
obvious when the penis is erect.

It occurs in approximately 1 in 20 men and most often affects middle-aged men, but it can also occur in teenage boys.

Focussed extracorporeal shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment aimed at reducing or eliminating the pain and sexual dysfunction associated with both conditions above.

what are they saying about us?

i wouldn’t be at the stage i am now without cris

I wouldn’t be at the stage I am now without Cris - his excellent care has got me to this point and it is up to me to continue to build on that now

Fiona, Saffron Walden - August 2022

extremely pleased and impressed with your practice

I just wanted to say thank you to Cris for all the support he gave me to manage my frozen shoulder pain and show me which exercises to do.

I have been extremely pleased and impressed with your practice, and I will certainly recommend your company to my friends & family.

My thanks also extend to you Jo, as you have been extremely helpful and understanding of when I have needed to change appointments or required extra information.

Should I need physiotherapy in the future, then I will definitely get in touch.

Katie, Cambridge - July 2022

I have been so impressed by the result

I had a series of Focussed Shock Wave therapy sessions with Cris because Dupuytren's contracture in my little finger had not been fully corrected by surgery 7 years ago and was getting worse again, putting additional strain on my wrist.

Kate – Harston, Cambridgeshire

Thank you!

Just a quick message to say thank you for yesterday's appointments for all of us.

Tanya - Kent

I completed my first marathon!

Please pass on my eternal thanks to Cris as today I completed my first Marathon!! It wasn't fast BUT I felt no injuries. He really did fix all issues that came up, particularly the first injury that caused me to see him in the first place.

Lisa - Cambridge

Amazing

Amazing. Neck mobility is much better. Shoulder pain has vanished. Right side of neck a bit sore, but this does not surprise me. Still some pain in hand from running, but rather less than earlier this week, and I'm hopeful now I can work on fixing residual inflammation rather than causing more! So pleased. Thank you!

being there for me...

I would like to say a massive thank you to Cris for being there for me for all of the last 5 years. Not only as my physio-terrorist (haha) but also my counsellor and mentor. It has been a very difficult time but hopefully I am now coming out the other side and can start to get myself fitter (and trimmer) and we shouldn't need to see each other again?
I couldn't just disappear from your services without letting you know that this support has been invaluable to me in getting to where I am, and, that I really appreciate all the support and advice.

I immediately started to make progress

I had been told by those treating me in Spain, where I live, that the pain I was suffering from had become chronic and they could do nothing more for me. Then a friend here recommended me to come to the UK to see Cris, who'd really helped her following a running injury. Once Cris got me started on a simple exercise programme I immediately started to make progress. Coming every few months to the UK I continue to make progress with his support. I can't believe how much I've improved although it's been a long process.

We found the best possible course of treatment

I first met Cris in 2016 after a long series of operations as a result of a nasty hip injury. Since then, Cris and I have worked together over a period of 2 years to get me back to high level Rugby Union. During that time, I have greatly appreciated Cris's knowledge and skill as a talented MSK physiotherapist. However, it is not just his clinical acumen that sets him apart. Cris is a holistic practitioner in the truest sense. He has demonstrated compassion and humility in following all leads to ensure that we found the best possible course of treatment. His bedside manner is excellent, and he has gone above and beyond to support me when needed. Without Cris I am sure that I would never have made it back on the pitch. I am delighted to give him my highest possible recommendation.

Priceless

Plane ticket, 150, train ticket, 20, taxi from Cambridge station, 15, a physio who isn't a ******* idiot, priceless.

Just wanted to say a big thank you

Just wanted to say a big thank you. I put into practice the advice that you gave me last week, in particular focusing on the elements of the running drill and really concentrating on not wasting energy by keeping aligned. Without even really trying and barely checking my pace at all, I managed to get my course PB on Saturday (24:40). 40 seconds faster than the previous week and much faster than I have been lately. Out of almost 350 runners, I was the sixth female to finish and first in my age category!

Natalie - Runner, Bedfordshire

Thank you for all you have done for me...

I just wanted to email to say thank you for all you have done for me with my injury recovery process. I am now back at uni and under my coach again and running all seems to be going very well, I even have my first race back next weekend! Thank you for all you have done for me, and hopefully I see you next on much less dramatic terms.

I consider Cris to be outstanding

I have been lucky enough to work with some truly world-class physiotherapists in my time as an international rugby player and can safely say that I consider Cris to be outstanding. As someone who has a BSc in sports science from Loughborough and 16 years experience in international sport as a competitor I feel I am reasonably well qualified to pass judgment on his excellent skill set and the mental skills to ensure a rapid diagnosis, treatment plan and the right motivational skills to ensure such a plan was followed by the player, resulting in the quickest possible rehabilitation.
